Five post-Christmas sales you don’t want to miss
Got Christmas cash or gift cards burning in your pockets? The day after Christmas is prime time for shopping because you can find deeply discounted deals on winter apparel. This is especially appealing to those who live in cold-weather climates where sweaters, knit dresses, hats and scarves still have a few months to get a lot of playing time.
On Dec. 26, expect winter wear to be marked down and moved to clearance racks so retailers can make room for their winter-to-spring transition pieces. Retailers will also be opening their doors early for the early birds shopping for good deals. Check out stores like Wal-Mart, Target and CVS. If you’re looking to stock up on decorations next year, stop by Pier 1 Imports and Cost Plus World Market.
While you’re out shopping, think ahead. Christmas will be 364 days away, but you’ll be able to find uber-cheap holiday-themed pajamas, Christmas cards, wrapping paper, ornaments and other accouterments. Why not stock up for next year? Your future self will thank you.
If you plan to shop on Dec. 26, here are five sales to put on your list.
H&M: The world-wide fast-fashion chain is making promises of $5 fashion deals. Most stores open at 8 a.m. Wednesday, but double-check with your local store. The first 100 people in line get scratch-offs valued up to $300.
Your local Goodwill or thrift store: People are trying to squeeze in last-minute tax deductions before the close of the year. Now is a good time to go treasure hunting at your local thrift store and find some name-brand clothing marked down — oftentimes under $5 for quality jeans. Bonus if you find a $10 bill in the pocket.
Old Navy: Sales are up to 75 percent off in store and 50 percent off online + 5.5 percent cash-back offers from ShopAtHome.com. Now is a good time to invest in a stylish winter jacket because they’re majorly on sale at Old Navy. We like this tweed wool-blend coat that has a modern ruffle-collar twist. It’s marked down to $27.47 online.
Overstock.com: Don’t want to deal with mall traffic? Overstock.com has lots of great deals going on — starting now. Watches are marked down 75 percent. We fancy this Akribos XXIV watch classic toffee chains that resemble a preppy bracelet paired with crystal accents on the time piece. MSRP is $405, but the watch is on sale for $89.99.
Kohl’s: Shop now through 3 p.m. Central Standard Time online for “early-bird” specials or in-store Wednesday from open until 1 p.m. One of our favorite deals is the black-and-tan Chaps boots that resemble riding boots. They’re marked down to $49.99. Another deal that is tempting us is the Chi styling iron for $119.99. The ceramic plates eliminate frizz and can be used to give spiral curls, beach waves or straighten your hair.
