Quaintrelle: A charming blog full of adventure, passion and life
Seterra is the free spirit behind the charming blog Quaintrelle. She is an explorer and a lover of life, dance, food and travel. If that’s not perfect fodder for a blog, then we don’t know what is. Her passion for life and her engaging personality make Quaintrelle a true pleasure to read. Meet Seterra …
Where I’m based: The DMV. Which stands for DC, Maryland and Virginia. The proper term would ‘The Washington Metropolitan Area’ but it gets little wordy so I just say ‘DMV’. But if you want to get technical (for all the stalkers out there haha), I live in Northern Virginia.
How long I’ve been blogging: I’ve been blogging for over a year now and hope to keep at it for as long as I enjoy it.
Blog/business basics: In a nutshell, my blog is pretty much an extension of my life — at least the parts I choose to share. I love to travel and explore new places, eat yummy food and drink yummy drinks, and I am a huge advocate for the arts. As such, these are the popular topics I blog about. Every once in a while, I’ll also share an outfit I put together or snippets of my personal life.
What’s the story about your blog’s name? I happened upon the name, Quaintrelle, while browsing through Tumblr late one night in a bout of insomnia. Once I saw the word, I knew that this was to be the name of my blog. Quaintrelle is defined as “a woman who emphasizes a life of passion through personal style, leisurely pastimes, charm and cultivation of life’s pleasures.” I guess the next question would be, “Does this word define who I am?” To which, I would answer “No”. But it does define the type of woman I aspire to become. So I guess one can say that by naming the blog, Quaintrelle, I am holding myself accountable to upholding the values of this word/persona. This blog documents my journey as I work towards manifesting my approach in life into that of a Quaintrelle.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? The community. I had no idea I would meet so many cool people through blogging. I’ve met other bloggers in real life and some of those initial interactions have grown into real thriving friendships! As such, my doubts about eHarmony have fallen to the wayside. If I can meet great people through blogging then yes, it’s definitely possible that people can meet their future husband or wife through eHarmony or whatever matchmaking platform. Blogging has made me a believer.
Other blogs I love: I read a lot of blogs but if I had to narrow them down, these are the first that come to mind: Gary Pepper, Dank and Dapper, Mish Lovin Life, La Mia Vita, Tuula Vintage and Paris In Four Months.
Guilty pleasure: Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I know, I know. I don’t even have a TV but luckily, I have family members who will TiVo the episodes for me so that when I come over to visit I can get caught up on the series.
Last thing I bought: Skinny Cow Chocolate Ice Cream Sandwiches. It’s the only way to compromise between being obsessed with chocolate and ahem — being on a diet.
What are you most excited about going from NYC to Northern Virginia? Being closer to my family and friends, moving in with my boyfriend of six years (who I now get to call “fiancé” as he just proposed to me a couple weeks ago!) and getting reacquainted with my hometown, D.C.
Spending these past two years exploring NYC made me realize how much I took D.C. for granted. I’ve never walked up the Washington Monument or been to half of its free museums which is a darn shame. Luckily, where I live in Virginia is just 25-minutes outside of D.C. So now that I’m back in the area, I plan on making up for lost time and you can bet your bottom dollar that I will be sharing those adventures on my blog.
What’s your favorite form of chocolate? Dark Chocolate. Always dark.
What’s your favorite quote? “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” – Dr. Seuss
