We’re ready to segue into the spring and trade out the practical accessories we arm ourselves with (read: Goodbye, snow scrapers; hello cute umbrellas!) The spring weather also means we can lighten up our coat closet and we’re looking forward to trenches, soft pastels and peppy prints on spring coats as well as some unexpected sweet accents and detailing on coats.
As we spring forward into the next season, here our a few of our favorite coat and umbrella combos — which are so chic you’ll be doing the rain dance hoping to give these pieces some extra playing time. Shop these umbrellas — which start at $14 — and raincoats from Nordstrom and earn up to 10 percent Cash Back from ShopAtHome.com!
- Ruffles and polka dots on a classic black and white palette: One of the umbrella trends we’re noticing this season (yup, even umbrellas are subject to trends) is dome shaping — which creates a little canopy for you to stay dry underneath. For a chic look, try the Capelli of New York Polka Dot Dome Umbrella, for $14, with the DKYNY Ruffle Detail Front Zip Raincoat. The ruffles on the raincoat and the polka dots add sweet details to this otherwise sleek color combo.
- Spring leopard print with a trench. We love the pop of color and personality in this Tri-Coastal Design Leather Printed Umbrellapaired with a more classic trench coat. Traditional leopard print gets softened up with a lighter brown and blue and pink pastels with a cute blue handle on the umbrella. Balance the look out with a lightweight trench as a top layer. Check out this Chelsea28 Trench Coat for $128. It hits right at the knee for a chic, sophisticated look.
- A nautical twist on spring. Style icon Sarah Jessica Parker launched an epic shoe line for Nordstrom last month. Among her collection were a few coats as well. We’re majorly crushing on this feminine SJP Manhattan Grosgrain Trim Skirted Trench (a definite investment piece). Try pairing with a $12 Red Poppy Watercolor umbrella for a red-and-blue combo.
