Rent a private island — starting at just $15 per night
It might sounds too good to be true: a vacation on your own private island. No crowded beaches. No long buffet lines. No traffic. Just you, your loved ones, the beach, the surf and heaven on earth.
Believe it or not: This kind of beyond-luxury vacation is not limited to the rich and famous. There are many reasonably priced ways to rent a private island — especially if you are planning a trip with a large group (think: family reunions, bachelorette party, destination wedding, multi-family vacation).
Here are some islands that could be your next vacation destination:
Little Deadman’s Cay, less than a mile off the coast of Long Island. For $1,975 for two adults for one week, you can have the exclusive run of a 9 1/2-acre pristine island with just one beachfront home.
Money-saving tip: Want to make it a better deal? Bring more friends along; it’s $300 for each additional adult, or only $150 per child. For a group of six adults, each person would pay only $529.16 per week. That’s about $75 per night. Try to find even a cheap hotel off the interstate for that rate — much less private snorkeling and a sea view from the patio dining area.

Belize private island adventure. If you’re looking for something more exciting, check out Slickrock Adventures’ Belize travel outdoor vacation on a private island. Here, you can get guided tours, home-cooked meals and expedition sports, such as hammock surfing, sea kayaking and fishing. The Adventure Island at Glover’s Reef packages start at $1,295 per person for five days.
Pretty Joe Rock in the Florida Keys has been featured on CNN and HGTV, and it can be yours for less than $4,000 per week. This island is restricted to two couples, but that still brings it down to less than $1,000 per person per week (just over $142 per night). Other features: a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor grill, sunken Jacuzzi tub, ocean-view shower and a small power boat.

Isleta Tahiti at Granada, in Nicaragua. Rent this entire island and home for only $155 per day, or only $1,030 per week. Capacity: 10, with no extra charge for more people. That’s about $100 per person per week. About $15 per night. Even for just two people, this is a great deal. The building is remodeled, featuring a pool, four bedrooms, air conditioning, um, did we mention private island?
