It’s a boy! Kate gives birth to Royal prince after 14 hours of labor

We’ve been waiting. And waiting. And waiting some more. Even Queen Elizabeth said on July 17 she’d “very much like it to arrive — I’m going on holiday!”
But after months of anticipation, it’s with royal joy that we celebrate the birth of the first child of Prince William and his wife, Catherine, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The 8-pound, 6-ounce boy was born today at 11:24 a.m. EST), Today reports.
The Duchess was in labor for more than 14 hours (ouch!), according to a news release from Buckingham Palace.
“Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well and will remain in hospital overnight,” the statement read. (Fun fact: The hospital is St. Mary’s in London — the same place Prince William and his brother, Prince Harry were born.)
Third in line to the throne, CNN reports it could take 10 days for the prince’s name to be announced. His official title will be His Royal Highness Prince (the baby’s name) of Cambridge.
Other babies born today will snag a coin from the Royal Mint — in a pink pouch for girls, or blue for boys, CNN adds. We wonder what those would net on eBay.
While — just like we did with his birth announcement — we wait for the boy’s name with bated breath, we do know the Prince is sure to be showered with gifts. (Here are five gifts we love for any baby.) Shopping for a little one yourself? Start with our babies and kids coupons to save on everything from blankets and onesies to bottles and diapers. And maybe even throw in something from The Lion King (get it, the King?) from the Disney Store and also score 3 percent Cash Back. The new prince isn’t the only one who deserves a little bling, right?
