How to save money in Vegas
With the sound of money clanging through the streets, it’s no doubt that a vacation to Las Vegas can drain the bank account.
But if you travel wisely, you can actually get by on the cheap in Vegas. There are many great deals to take advantage of and plenty of ways to save money on your trip.
Here are some of our favorite ways to save when you are vacationing in Vegas.
1. Never pay full price — for your airfare, your hotel or your rental car:
With Cash Back and discounts offered on so many different travel companies, there is no excuse to ever pay full price for your major travel expenses.
2. Get your entertainment on discount, too:
Did you know you can get discounted tickets to Vegas’ top shows? The Best of Vegas offers more than 30 different coupons and 5 percent Cash Back through ShopAtHome.com. Through these deals, you can save $250 off a four-ticket pack to see “The Beatles Love” by Cirque du Soleil. Scroll through a long list of other options to find sales on your favorite shows.
It’s always cheaper to buy your tickets online and in advance than at the door.
3. Consider ditching the rental car entirely:
With the action all happening on The Strip, you really don’t need a rental car (and to pay for parking) in the city. Just hop on an Uber from the airport and use the cheap public transportation, if your feet get tired. But the stroll along The Strip is so packed with prime people-watching that it may very well be the best way to get around.
If you do drive, don’t get your gas on The Strip. Hit the gas station before you get into the heart of town.
4. Fill up at lunch instead of dinner:
If you are trying to save money on food by eating one main meal a day and snacking (or eating light) the rest of the day, make your highlight lunch, when buffet prices are much cheaper than at dinner time.
Take advantage of the all-you-can-eat buffets and opt for a light snack around dinner time — perhaps some fresh fruit, nuts or a protein bar from the grocery store. Pack some healthy snacks from home (rather than trying to shop on The Strip) and you can save money and time.
Don’t waste money on lattes in a coffee shop and breakfast, either. Look for hotels with free continental breakfast, or pack some instant oatmeal packages and mix them with hot water from the coffee pot in your room for a super cheap breakfast that will fill you up all morning.
Make your oatmeal in a cup from your hotel room or pack instant oatmeal cup.
