Because Shanna Said So: helping women with ‘nothing to wear’
How many times have you looked in your overstuffed closet and thought to yourself, “Gosh, I have nothing to wear?” If you are like us, that is an all-too-common occurrence. Shanna Schneider recognized that this trend haunts several of us and decided to help. Her blog Because Shanna Said So offers inspiration for outfits, shopping tips and closet insight to make any woman feel more enthusiastic about her wardrobe. She even took it to the next level and started her own personal styling business in order to help women conquer their closet and beat that “nothing to wear” feeling. Meet Shanna …
Where I’m based: Round Rock, Texas
How long I’ve been blogging: Since December of 2011
Blog basics: Personal style on a budget. I want my readers to know that you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on clothes to look like a million bucks. My style is accessible for the every day girl. I also throw in a few random life happenings and let my readers take a peek inside my daily world.
Other blogs I love: I read and follow so many and don’t want to leave anyone out. I tend to gravitate toward style bloggers, but I love lifestyle bloggers too. At the end of the day I want to read posts and see styles that are real and something obtainable for most.
Guilty pleasure: I am pretty simple. I love sleeping in, shopping by myself, getting a pedicure or having a Texas martini on a patio.
Last thing I bought: A Forever 21 graphic tank that says “Free Spirit”.
What inspired you to launch your personal style consulting business? I had personal friends ask me to style their family photos or help with picking out something for a special event. Then readers started asking me for help and I thought, why not make this a side business? It’s something I am passionate about and love helping women feel better about themselves in the clothes that they already own.
What accessories do you gravitate towards? Scarves in the colder months. Statement jewelry and sandals during the warmer ones.
What trends are you loving right now? Global prints like Aztec inspired patterns. I am still a big fan of pattern mixing and of course, statement necklaces.
Do your kids like dress up as much as you do? They like to put on makeup and put on “shows” at home, but honestly, they really aren’t that big into clothes and fashion just yet. I am sure their time will come and I will be broke.
What’s your go-to Mexican restaurant order? Oh man, what don’t I order? I always start with chips, salsa and queso. Then I typically order a bean and cheese burrito or chicken fajitas. Anything wrapped in a flour tortilla has my vote!
