Shave the date: Movember comes to an end at 12:01 a.m. Dec. 1. And that means your husband-turned-yeti will need some good shaving equipment. Maybe even a weed whacker. An early holiday gift might be in order — unless you want No Shave November to segue into Don’t Shave December. Before you know it, we’ll be in the thick of Furry-Faced February.
Before he gets to shaving (which is code for chopping), let’s give him a shout out for growing out his facial hair for a cause. The idea behind No-Shave November is to bring awareness to cancer. Participants (admittedly, it’s a pretty informal thing), donate the money they’d usually spend on shaving and grooming to organizations that educate about cancer prevention and help those battling cancer.
(Read more about No-Shave November here. The official campaign has a partnership with the American Cancer Society. They are seeking donations and asking that those guys growing out mustaches and beards go ahead and Instagram their progress to help further raise awareness).
Here are a few holiday gift ideas for those who followed the marching orders of No-Shave November. (Savings tip: Get 5 percent Cash Back from Overstock.com when you buy through ShopAtHome.com).
- Philips Norelco SensoTouch Electric Razor with GyroFlex 3D and UltraTrack: Pretty much the Cadillac of razors. This razor follows every contour of the face and shaves hair in just a few strokes. (Razor is pictured).
- Pre-Shave Cream: The Proraso cream contains eucalyptus oil, which refreshes the face and softens the beard prior to shaving. Apply it afterwards to reduce stinging and irritation. Find it in sandalwood, too. (Fun fact: Proraso has been the leading Italian barber shop shaving brand since 1926).
- After shave cream: A guy’s got options. But, the Issey Miyake ‘L’eau D’issey’ aftershave lotion is a stand out. The fragrance was launched by the design hosue of Issey Miyake. The masculine scent blends citrus and spice with lower notes of musk, amber and woods.
