Shopping trend: Style influencers providing ‘picks’ for stores
Ever wonder what it would be like to go on a shopping spree with a supermodel? What about spending the afternoon browsing trends with your favorite fashion blogger? Or how about an editor of a popular style magazine pointing out to you their fave fall trends?
One of the latest online shopping trends that we’re keen on has style influencers—like bloggers, celebs, fashion editors and stylists—partnering with brands to share their favorite picks. Here’s how some of our favorite stores have partnered up with our style crushes for one-of-a-kind fashion unions. Stores also pulling some of their favorite looks from Instagram and other social media outlets to showcase the “every girl” rocking their goods and styling their designs. (P.S. we’ve got ways you can save on these picks, too).
Piperlime—which carries designer brands as well as their own chic collection—recently announced the debut of a “social” shopping experience. One of our favorite features on their site has been the “Guest Editor” picks that star stylish celebs like Jessica Alba and Olivia Palermo. The brand announced that it’s evolving with a Guest Editor Program by featuring 25 “It Girls” whose social media feeds are “just the type the Piperlime customer wants to shop.”
The program is being unveiled with supermodel Chrissy Teigen. It will provide Piperlime customers with advice and style tips from Fashion Designer Claire Vivier; Blogger Julia Engel of Gal Meets Glam; Musician ZZ Ward; New York City style influencer Christina Tosi of Momofuku Milk Bar and Socialite Poppy Delevingne. Jamie Lewin, director of design and trend, says this about the guest editor feature: “Our customer is the contemporary girl who loves to curate her own looks. While we are always inspired by the runway, our girl looks more to street style and social media for tips on how to mix and match all of the pieces in her own way. She blends investment and affordable pieces in a way that’s cool, feminine and always true to herself.”
Old Navy has teamed up with Refinery29, a leading fashion site. Savvy editors from Refinery29 are curating stylish looks for fall in quick-hit vignettes featured on the Old Navy website. (See their picks here). Among their favorite looks? An animal print felt hat for under $15 and a “saucy red” crossbody bag.
