Sing in the new year with these NYE concerts
By Aimee Heckel
Some of the best New Year’s Eve parties aren’t technically parties. They’re concerts.
Here are a few of the world’s best New Year’s Eve concerts, and how to save money on your travels to go see them firsthand.
Billy Joel in Brooklyn: We’ve all heard of celebrating the stroke of midnight in Times Square. This is a different way to celebrate NYE in NYC. Enjoy the piano man himself at Barclays Center starting at 9:30 p.m. Tickets start at $64.50.
In fact, you can find music at what seems like every New York venue on New Year’s Eve, from big name artists to local faves to up-and-coming musicians.

The Flaming Lips in Aspen, Colo.: Not much is more magical than this stunning ski town in the winter, and The Flaming Lips are known to put on a great show. Tickets aren’t cheap here — hitting as pricey as $675 — but the Belly Up venue in this lovely town will make this a New Year’s Eve to remember.
Bruno Mars in Vegas: Vegas will be hot with live music all night, but one of the most anticipated shows is Bruno Mars at the Cosmopolitan’s music hall, The Chelsea. Although the tickets are sold out, you may be able to buy tickets from scalpers for marked-up prices — or just watch the concert live on the Cosmo’s marquee.
In addition, Britney Spears will rock Planet Hollywood (she’s still doing concerts?) and Lil Jon will be at the Wynn Las Vegas.
Maroon 5 will be playing at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, as well.
Can’t catch the music in person? SiriusXM radio plans to broadcast some of the action live on New Year’s Eve, including the Steve Aoki show from the Belly Up in Aspen. So tune in and rock out in your headphones.
