Sneak peek at 3.1 Phillip Lim collection for Target
Commence the countdown: Phillip Lim’s affordable collection for Target will hit stores and Target.com on Sept. 15.
Fueling our excitement over the designer collaboration even more was a sneak peek of some of the forthcoming designs. We spied on Instagram an elegant floral pattern blossoming on a classic black and white sheath dress and, brace for it, a black satchel that looks darn close to the $895 Pashli purse in soft wrinkled leather (which is sold out anyways).
The photo is from an advertisement in Vanity Fair. Another Instagram photo surfaced from a photo shoot for the collection and featured a black dress with roomy bat wing-style arms that was more fitted through the body.
The “3.1 Phillip Lim for Target” collection is promised to feature more than 100 items that range in price from $20 to $300 for apparel and $20 to $60 for accessories. Standout pieces, Target says, will include a trench coat for women and a leather moto jacket for men.
While we’re still anxiously waiting for an official lookbook, here’s what we’ve been able to glean about the limited-time capsule: The collection will be rooted in a classic fall palette of neutral tones mixed with simple prints and we can expect materials that include chiffon, real leather and soft French terry.
“Since an early age, I’ve been intrigued by the idea of design evolution,” says Lim in a news release. “One of the reasons I wanted to collaborate with Target is because I felt that together we could create a collection that would inspire—one that is cool and chic, but still very accessible.”
Among Lim’s celeb-fans are Kate Hudson, Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley.
This fall’s collaboration is next in a long line of designer partnerships. Target has also teamed up with big-name designers and fashion houses — including Missoni, Jason Wu, Kate Young and Prabal Gurung.
