The Darling Prepster: ‘High heels, high standards, pearls everyday’
Ashliegh Jarzenski is a sorority girl of the highest caliber: upbeat, active in her community and running her own blog: The Darling Prepster. With style and class to match, this Alpha Phi Sister is an inspiration, participating not only in Miss Ohio America pageants but volunteering for Habitat For Humanity. Like most college kids, she’s on a tight budget, but that doesn’t stop her from shopping smart and looking cute. Meet Ashliegh …
Where I’m based: Ashland, Ohio
How long I’ve been blogging: I’ve been writing on The Darling Prepster for seven months now.
Blog/business basics: The Darling Prepster is a personal lifestyle blog that is filled with all the fun, fashion and recipes that come with being a classy collegiate and sorority woman! I’m just living my life to my personal motto, “high heels, high standards, pearls everyday!”
Other blogs I love: Oh gosh, there are so many! I’m a huge fan of my real life best friend and sorority sister, Rachael’s blog, Pretty in Pink, Love Me Dani Marie and Walking in Memphis in High Heels.
Guilty pleasure: Dark chocolate, baby animals (specially kittens and sloths), shopping and reading classic literature.
Last thing I bought: A pair of cowboy boots for my little sister’s wedding! I’m a bridesmaid and she has a rustic theme for her wedding.
Fav stores: J.Crew — I could spend all day there.
Where did you develop your passion for pearls? I watched Breakfast at Tiffany’s for the first time when I was a junior in high school and have been wearing my pearl necklace ever since! Pearls are so timeless and represent the epitome of class. They serve as a constant reminder of how I hold myself — with grace and class.
What do you like best about being in a sorority? What’s not to like? I wouldn’t be the woman I am without the support of my Alpha Phi sisters. Being in a sorority has taught me so much about professionalism, leadership and personal development and has provided mentors. But even further than that, Alpha Phi has given me a home.
What do you do when you are not in class or blogging? You can find me running around campus! I’m very involved in student life so you can often find me volunteering with Habitat for Humanity or hanging out on the quad with my Alpha Phi sisters and my boyfriend’s Phi Kappa Psi brothers.
Living off a poor college kid budget, how do you manage to stay so fashionable? Do you have any budgeting/saving tips? Definitely do your research. I research businesses that have student discounts and make sure to use my student ID at those stores. It’s also very rare if I buy something full price. I will wait for it to go on sale before I buy it.
What do you plan to do after college? I would love to work my way up the corporate ladder and become an executive recruiter. I also hope to one day open my own boutique and run my own business.
