The Spa Travel Gal’s pick: The best spa travel deals for April
By Aimee Heckel
It’s time to pamper yourself. April is the biggest month of the year for spa deals.
The bi-annual Spa Week is April 15-21. Spa Week was launched nearly a decade ago to bring the spa and wellness experience to everyone, by coordinating major discounts for treatments in spas across the country. During spa week, you can get all kinds of full-service treatments that are regularly hundreds of dollars for only $50.
So get those toes and cheeks ready for spring. No more excuses.
Needless to say, the country’s most premier authority on the spa lifestyle, Ava Roxanne Stritt, aka the Spa Travel Gal, is in high gear this month. Every month, ShopAtHome.com catches up with Stritt to get the inside scoop on the best spa travel deals. For April, Stritt presents her favorite spa travel deals in three categories: budget, unique and international.
BUDGET
You can’t go wrong this month, with so many top salons offering Spa Week deals. Sign up for a Spa Week account and the website will direct you to facilities in your area that are offering $50 deals.
“People spend $50 a week to get their nails done, and here you can go to a luxury spa for $50 and get a luxury treatment — plus the amenities,” Stritt says.
She says she is going to Exhale Spa in Atlanta this month for two $50 treatments: a facial peel and a delux mani-pedi combo.
UNIQUE
As Stritt writes, “Who would want to just go to a spa when they can spend the night?” She names the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead in Georgia the top spa suite in the United States, and also one of the most unique spa experiences you can find.
She calls it the perfect pleasure trifecta: sushi, shopping and spa. It’s located at a major shopping intersection in Atlanta, near the upscale Phipps Plaza and the luxurious Lenox Mall.
Inside, the Ritz-Carlton has a special, designated “spa level,” complete with a “spa concierge.”
“Nowhere else do I know of that has this: a dedicated level, with special rooms with amenities all designed around a spa retreat experience,” Stritt says. “You walk from your room to the spa in your bathrobe. No one else can get on the floor, unless they’re staying on spa levels. It’s just amazing.”
The rooms themselves feature Tempur-Pedic beds and a space to do yoga.
Stritt’s recommended treatment: the spa-warming ritual, a series of treatments that transform your skin, body and mind into the best state they can be, she says. She tried the red wine firming facial, and says people asked for for several weeks after if she had “work done.” Also check out the Hot Toddy for the Body treatment.
