Spring 2016 beauty trends
Think of each new season as another opportunity to redefine your style.
As we slide into spring 2016, here are some of our favorite fun beauty trends to incorporate into your look.
1. Pink innocence:
Tone down those dark fall tones with rose accents on the lips and lids. A ballerina-pink eye shadow is an easy way to add some color to your face — no dramatic contouring necessary. Subtle corals can work as a pink for warmer skintones. Mac Ellie Goulding lipstick, $18 (plus Cash Back), Macys.com
2. Color blocking:
Color blocking isn’t just for clothes. Pick two complementary yet contrasting colors and block out your eyelids. Try light blue and purple, or a combination of other flattering pastel colors — not perfectly blended. The gradient in tone is what makes this look interesting.Mix and match with a shadow palette packed with a variety of different colors. Pick shades that aren’t too matchy-matchy with your outfit. Experiment with bold shadows and a neutral top, if you’re unsure how to make this work. Urban Decay UD XX Vice Ltd Reloaded Eyeshadow Palettte, $56 (plus Cash Back), Macys.com
3. Feeling wild? Faux freckles:
Hit the runway with some of the biggest trend-setters. Instead of a porcelain-smooth face, some daring fashionistas are drawing on little, subtle, brown flecks with an eyebrow or eyeliner pencil.
4. Liquid blue:
Ulta calls this the water fairy look, but really, it’s a thin cat-eye look with navy liquid liner. Line both the top and bottom lids — but be careful. This look can either look gloriously hip or like a seventh-grader who just discovered make-up for the first time. Make Up Forever Aqua Liner Liquid Eyeliner, $23 (plus Cash Back), Sephora.com
5. More blue:
Blue shadow is huge this spring, too. Bold shadows are making a comeback, and blue is leading the parade. Obviously, use your blues in moderation. Blue liner with blue shadow and a blue dress is going to make you look like a Smurf. Nvey Eco Eye Shadow in Midnight Blue, $4.49 (plus Cash Back), Ulta.com
