Sunny + Turquoise: Fashion, beauty and bargains
Lacey of Sunny + Turquoise is fairly new to the blogging world, but her adorable outfits and funny sense of humor are making a huge splash with us. We are reading her blog as frequently as she is consuming popcorn — on the daily. Meet Lacey …
Where I’m based: I’m based in the suburbs of Chicago, but I’m originally from a small farm town. My graduating class was 100 students — say what?
How long I’ve been blogging: I did my first post for Sunny + Turquoise on January 25, 2013, so a little over six months ago. I really had no clue what to expect or that anyone other than my momma bear would care to read what I have to say.
Blog/business basics: Sunny + Turquoise is my outlet for documenting my weekly wardrobe for my Mean Muggin’ Wednesday series where I take classy mirror pics of my outfits during that week. I also blog about my favorite beauty products, fashion items and accessories. I’ve recently started a series documenting the shopping hauls that I’m able to do for $20. To mix it up a little, I also incorporate posts about my life in general, like when I snuck into a Kenny Chesney Concert and had a zebra in my car.
What do you enjoy most about blogging? The friendships that I have made have been amazing, we can all connect and relate to each other despite being states apart. Blogging has also given me an identity. It is such a good feeling when strangers or friends and family tell me how much they enjoy reading Sunny + Turquoise and have gained fashion inspiration for their own wardrobe from reading it.
Guilty pleasure: Reality TV, commonly referred to as trash TV. I’m actually a professional Bravo TV expert. I wish I could be paid know about every single thing about the Real Housewives franchise. I’d be able to quit my job.
Last thing I bought: I purchased two light sweaters to be worn on summery nights with shorts or in the winter with jeans and boots from H&M on sale for $10 each. One was a multi-colored sweater, while the other was a bright purple one (to stand out).
Fav stores: You can find me at Target four-to-five times out of the week, please don’t judge — it’s three minutes away! I find anything and everything there. One of my biggest gems is finding clothes in the kids section. Shorts are usually $10 and an XL is typically equivalent to a size 6 in juniors. I’ve also scored my favorite fur vest and chambray shirt from that section. Other than that, I’m usually found anywhere from Forever21 to H&M, Macy’s to Nordstrom Rack and anywhere in between. No shame in my shopping game.
What are you wearing right now? Cream and black high-low maxi, coral statement necklace, black woven wedges, Michael Kors watch and two dainty knuckle rings with a pop of bright pink lipstick to be exact.
What is your favorite chip and dip combo? Any kind of chips will do, but I would stuff my face with guacamole, salsa, hummus and sour cream and onion dip, every day all day if I had the ability to not turn obese.
Statement necklace or stacked bangles? If you browse Sunny + Turquoise for just a few seconds you will know that I covet statement necklaces. There’s nothing better than a great bold chunky necklace to spruce up an outfit. It is such an inexpensive way to take an outfit from drab to glam.
What movie title best describes your life? Confessions of a (bargain) Shopaholic. I am the best deal-finder and sale-rack scouter you will ever meet. I’ve been known for it since I was young by my family and friends and it’s a title I’ll take any day.
