New survey shows cheating wives love them some Banana Republic, J.Crew
So, we certainly don’t want to take relationship advice from women cheating on their hubbies. But fashion cues? Well, maybe.
Ashley Madison — an online dating site that helps arrange extra-marital affairs — surveyed 52,390 of its female subscribers about their favorite clothing brands.
Banana Republic topped the list. Followed by the preppy All-American retailer. Also rounding out the Top 5: J. Crew, Macy’s, Ann Taylor and H&M. And, Victoria’s Secret is the top undergarment store for those having an extramarital fling, with nearly 70 percent of cheating ladies favoring the brand.
Admittedly, we don’t like their choice in men. But, we like their clothing picks. With the new ABC show Mistresses and celebrity rumors about Heidi Klum, Madonna and Kristin Stewart stepping out on their men, cheating ladies are in the spotlight.
Noel Biderman, the chief executive officer of Ashley Madison.com, explained why the site’s clients seem to favor “business casual.”
“Business-casual merchandise perfectly suits the busy working woman juggling work and family,” he says.
(But, um, hello! Let’s not ignore the elephant in the room. These busy women are also juggling an extramarital affair).
The site’s average female user, Biderman says, is a professional woman in her early 30’s.
Ashley Madison clients surveyed indicated their affairs are, well, good for the economy, perhaps? More than one third surveyed said they spend more on their appearance since they started cheating and 27 percent have a secret credit card they are using to fund their purchases. (Read between the lines: Becoming more interested in one’s appearance may be a dead giveaway of an affair).
