Gourmet grilled cheese
Bacon is the perfect addition to a sometimes boring grilled cheese sandwich. Whether you use raw or roasted tomato slices, remember to sprinkle your favorite seasoning for more flavor. Once your bacon is fried and ready to go, butter two slices of sourdough. You can layer your sandwich with cheese, basil, bacon and tomato. Then grill on medium heat until the cheese is melted and the bread has browned. Serve with tomato soup or a side salad for an added treat. View the full recipe.

Bacon-wrapped scallops
This appetizer is quick to make and definitely a favorite for seafood lovers. Start off by mixing soy sauce, lemon juice, mirin, brown sugar and grated ginger until the sugar dissolves. Coat the scallops in the mixture before placing each on one end of a piece of bacon. Roll the bacon around it and place on a prepared broiler pan. Then broil the scallops for about three minutes, until the bacon starts to brown. Rotate the scallops and cook for three minutes longer prior to serving. Find the full recipe here.

Gourmet macaroni and cheese
Mac and cheese doesn’t have to just be a dish for kids any longer. First, fry several slices of bacon and minced garlic. Then cook your favorite elbow pasta before setting it aside. Then melt butter over medium heat and add a combination of flour, milk and cream cheese. Stir in the seasonings, bacon and garlic after the cheese fully melts. Once everything has been mixed and cooked for 15 minutes over low heat, add in the pasta. The sauce will thicken and the pasta will be ready after 12 to 15 minutes. Read the full recipe.

Candied bacon
Finish International Bacon Day with arguably the tastiest dish on our list (and the easiest to make, too). Just set out slices of bacon on a wire rack inside of a rimmed cookie sheet. Generously sprinkle the brown sugar upon each slice and then place in the oven for 40 minutes at 375 degrees. While you wait, the sugar caramelizes and the bacon becomes crispy. Let the bacon cool before serving. But get your helping while you can, because it’s sure to be gone fast! Find the full recipe here.
Just like the scallops, candied bacon can be easily served on a rectangular tray, similar to this one from Target. Corelle Rectangle Serve Tray, $6.99 (plus Cash Back), Target.com
