Check in, bliss out: Top places to travel this weekend
Call it an early Mother’s Day or a late spring break, but this weekend may be a great time to hop on a plane for a last-minute travel excursion.
The windows between popular travel holidays can be a great time to score incredible deals, if you have a flexible schedule. Now that most schools are back in session, score your own belated spring break deals and enjoy paradise with fewer crowds. Here are our favorite three places to travel this weekend:
Downtown San Francisco
California is beautiful this time of year, and San Fran has always been one of our favorite cities to visit. With a slight spring bite in the air, except shorter Alcatraz lines than in the summer, and with school back in session, you may even be able to score a table at some of the city’s top restaurants without reservations. Our favorite way to experience the city is by foot–just walking through the different neighborhoods, browsing shops, grabbing seafood by the water and then toasting the night away at a bar with a view.

Long Island, N.Y.
White sand, golfing, shopping, museums, wine and, of course, the Hamptons. Long Island in New York is a stunning alternative beach vacation to heading south. The culture and food of Long Island will leave you feeling refreshed.

Arizona is perfect this time of year, before the weather gets too hot. March to May is the most popular time to visit Phoenix, when temps hover around an ideal 80 degrees, with cooler evenings that provide just the right amount of respite from the warmth. Stay at the Arizona Grand Resort, which boasts a golf course and seven-acre water park on site, complete with eight-story water slides, a wave pool and a lazy river. What better way to celebrate the spring?
