Trend alert: Suede mini skirts we love
Just because the weather is growing colder doesn’t mean you have to put away your skirts and dresses. Pair them with some cable-knit tights and boots, a chunky sweater and scarf, and you can take feminine fashion all the way into fall.
One way to wear mini skirts in the fall is to pick a warmer, thicker material. While leather may keep you warm, a short leather skirt is definitely not everyone’s style.
Suede is the solution. It’s like leather’s sophisticated sister.
Here are three of our favorite suede mini skirt styles to try on this fall.
1. Paneled, not tight:
A mini skirt does not need to be tight. A looser-fitting cut can be more playful, with a hint of innocence and sweetness. We love this paneled brown suede skirt from Nordstrom. But with true suede, and a brand name price tag, this skirt is far from cheap. Frame Denim, Le Paneled Suede Mini Skirt, $549 (plus Cash Back), Nordstrom.com
If you’re on a budget, pick a similar style by Jolt, but in faux suede. Find it in both tan and black. Jolt Button Front Skirt, $44 (plus Cash Back), Nordstrom.com
2. Vertically striped:
A fun spin on a suede skirt is the multi-colored version. Look for horizontal stripes, which are more flattering and elongating. Thicker stripes or block prints can look less busy and a little more sophisticated. TopShop has a great navy and tan striped suede skirt with buttons down the front — totally 2015. Striped Suede Skirt, $160 (plus Cash Back), TopShop.com
3. Fringe accents:
Fringe is everywhere this year, and adding some fringe accents to a suede mini skirt is a perfect fit. JC Penney’s Rewind Faux Suede skirt in light brown does fringe with a Wild West flair, and for less than $30. Rewind Faux Suede Fringe Skirt, on sale $29.99 (plus Cash Back), JCPenney.com
