By Aimee Heckel
Call it traveling with pride. Increasingly more travel providers are offering trips specifically catered toward gay travelers.
In fact, Passport Magazine reports there are 81 different international gay and lesbian cruises this year. That doesn’t even count the various gay and lesbian resorts and vacation excursions.
Here are two different types of all-gay travel offerings for 2014:
What: Out Adventures organizes all-gay cruises to Greece, Croatia and Galapagos, complete with guided walking tours, reservations at top restaurants and other activities. For something more private, book a private yacht, for 16 to 50 guests.
Cost: $2,799 for a 10-day Croatian tour, and up.
Highlights: On the cruise through Croatia, you’ll visit parks, medieval towns, explore history in person, swim in the Adriatic Sea, dine at some of the country’s best restaurants and meet new friends.
What: Orbitz has compiled a list of gay-friendly hotels and resorts, such as the East Canyon Hotel + Spa in Palm Springs. This gay resort, hotel and spa is a friendly and sophisticated retreat in the heart of Palm Springs.
Cost: Get rates as low as $139 per night throughout February. Or stay five nights or longer through March 31 and get one night free. Get one night free when you stay four or more nights in April and May.
Join Orbitz Rewards and earn 5 percent on hotels and 1 percent on flights. Save more money by taking advantage of the Orbitz coupons.
Highlights: East Canyon Hotel also offers special wedding and commitment ceremony packages. You can also find a full range of spa treatments, luxurious rooms and intimate surroundings (only 15 rooms — and one grand suite), surrounded by palm trees and warmth.
