Turkey trousers! What to wear on Thanksgiving to be stylish (and comfy)

Your Uncle Bob might have been on to something — showing up to Thanksgiving dinner every year in his “turkey trousers” that are a few sizes too big. What he lacked in the style sense department he made up for with his planning.
Uncle Bob the trendsetter? Maybe. Just maybe. Slouchy pants are “in” right now — a perfectly timed fashion trend that aligns with the biggest eating holiday of the year. The fashion gods nailed it with their timing!
And because the thought of showing up to Thanksgiving in your baggiest sweatpants makes your inner fashionista groan, here’s some slouchy pants and skirts with elastic waistbands so that you can look gorgeous while you gobble. These waistlines are forgiving enough you can go back for seconds — or, heck, thirds. And then sneak back in the kitchen for a midnight snack consisting of pumpkin pie and whipped cream. Nobody’s judging.
We shopped these looks at Nordstrom, where you’ll earn up to 12 percent Cash Back on your purchase when you buy through ShopAtHome.com.
Drawstring woven pants, $38. These slouchy pants are an online only deal — and come in navy, olive or black. They’re nipped at the ankle and would play well with an ankle bootie. Balance out the loose fitting pants with a more structured top — like a fitted sweater or form-fitting T-shirt.
Ella Moss Sequin Slouchy trousers, $118. Go glam. If your family gatherings tend to be fancy or if you just can’t wait to New Year’s Eve to embrace the sparkle, get glitzy with these black sequined trousers. Color block them with a simple white blouse to play on 2013’s black-and-white trend. Call it pilgrim-chic for Thanksgiving.
Damask print harem pants, $19.20. Bring a little pattern play to the table. These damask print pants would pair beautifully with a plain black or navy sweater and a crossbody purse.
Halogen jacquard flare skirt, $69. Jacquard just invokes the holiday feeling. For a look that is perfect for the holidays, pair the shimmery jacquard skirt with a fair isle sweater and some tights.
