It’s February. Love is in the air … oh wait, it’s just your breath you see because it’s so cold outside.
But if you are brave enough to venture out this weekend (it is supposed to get warmer!), we’ve rounded up some fun Valentine’s Day-themed freebies for the whole family.
We’ll start with the little ones. Pottery Barn Kids has a week of Valentine’s fun that begins Friday, Feb. 7 and runs through Valentine’s Day on the 14th. The store’s website says it is celebrating with special events and activities that will appeal to readers, crafters and budding bakers. A cookie decorating session on Sunday at 11 a.m. does require a reservation, so click here for more information and to register.
Meanwhile, Lowe’s is hosting a kids clinic to build a love note holder for free at 10 a.m. on Saturday. It looks like a fun little project and would be super cool to bring to school to collect valentines. Simply click here to find your nearest participating location and register.
If hammers and nails aren’t your child’s thing, head over to Barnes and Noble at 11 a.m. Saturday for a reading of Rachel Bright’s Love Monster (the illustration alone on B&N’s site makes me want to go … and I don’t have kids.). The storytime event also will feature other activities and treats. Find your closest Barnes and Noble here.
Williams-Sonoma also is getting in on the Valentine’s Day action. Stores across the country are hosting Valentine’s Day baking technique classes this weekend. The free, one-hour class will teach participants “how to decorate home-baked cookies like a pro.” The cookies on their site look gorgeous and you get to eat some, so why wouldn’t you go? Participants also score 10 percent off on same-day purchases in store. Class times vary by location and space is limited, so click here to find your closest Williams-Sonoma to call and register.
Now go out and feel the love!
