Walmart plans even earlier opening for Black Friday plus more deals

If you’re going to open earlier, you have to have more to offer.
At least that’s the idea Walmart unveiled Tuesday morning in announcing its most-detailed Black Friday plans so far.
Walmart will begin Black Friday events in store at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving, two hours earlier than last year. But, if you can’t get there until 8 p.m., there still will be deals to be had because the company is planning special “one-hour guarantee” sale items for both hours.
The “one-hour guarantee” promotion was launched by Walmart in 2012 with three items, but this year there are 21 products that are part of the deals.
And here’s the guarantee: According to the company’s release, “Customers who are in the designated lines at Walmart between 6 and 7 p.m. or 8 and 9 p.m. local time on Thursday, Nov. 28 can purchase top gifts at special low prices with confidence that they’ll receive the item either that night or before Christmas.”
Included in the 6 p.m. guarantees are a 60-inch Vizio LED 1080p HDTV for $688 for a $310 savings, a HP Pavillion TouchSmart Laptop for $278, video games like Assassins Creed and Call of Duty Ghosts and sterling silver and diamond jewelry (for mom or to reward yourself for braving the crowds). Shoppers also will receive a $100 gift card for purchasing a 16 GB Apple iPad mini Wi-Fi for $299.
The 8 p.m. guarantees include Beats by Dr. Dre Solo headphones for $114.95 (a savings of $85) and an RCA 7-inch Dual Core Tablet for $49.
Of course Walmart has a slew of other Black Friday deals that are not part of the guarantee program. Starting when doors open at 6 p.m., you can pick up a 6-volt Barbie or Hot Wheels Jeep from Fisher-Price for $89 or a Stanley rolling tool chest with 88-piece tool set for $89. At 8 p.m., the additional sales include a 70-inch Vizio LED 1080p HDTV for $998 — a 41-percent savings over the normal $1,698 price tag.
And, naturally, there are Black Friday deals on Friday morning. At 8 a.m., shoppers can pick up the K70 Platinum Brewing System from Keurig for $169 and receive a $20 Walmart gift card. In addition to the 8 a.m. doorbusters, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Black Friday, the store will roll back prices on brands and items most in demand and individual Walmart store managers will have the power to drop prices on other products.
Also new this year, shoppers can wait in line for wristbands locking in their purchase of specific items and then go shop for other items. Customers must return to pick up the product within two hours of the start of the sales event.
