Free site helps you find clothes your favorite TV stars, models wear
By Brittany Anas
Have you ever had a fashion crush on one of your favorite television stars or models, but haven’t a clue on where to find the outfits they’re wearing? The new free website Wheretoget.com can help you find the clothes and accessories you’ve spied with your pretty little eyes, hunting down the pieces that you’ve spotted in celebrity magazines, blogs, movies, fashion week photos and Pinterest.
Wheretoget.com is a social network of fellow fashion lovers who will do some all-out shopping reconnaissance to help you find that skull blouse you saw Aria from Pretty Little Liars wearing in a recent episode or the neon skirt one of your fave fashion bloggers was flaunting. The best part: Some of the items scouted on the site are more affordable look-a-likes than the original ones you may be coveting.
Romain Moyne, chief executive officer, compares the relatively new site to Shazam — the popular app that records a bit of song and then names it for you.
To use the site, just upload a picture from your computer, or, if you see somebody wearing an outfit you love on the street, snap a picture from your smartphone (you sneaky little paparazzi, you) and upload it to the website.
Eight out of 10 times, users are able find an online store that sells the same or similar item. The website officially launched in 2012, and its user base is rapidly expanding.
“Our community is our biggest asset,” Moyne says in a news release. “They find tiny e-shops that any algorithm could not replace.”
You can also follow updates from your favorite celebrities — from Victoria’s Secret model Allesandra Ambrosio to actress Zoe Saldana — to get insider scoops on what they’re wearing, and you can follow some of your favorite brands — like Hollister, Modcloth, Urban Outfitters, Zara and TopShop — to help you find what you’re looking for at their stores.
